The Role
In this Tool Designer role, you'll play a key role within the team, designing and manufacturing injection moulded components. You will be surrounded by industrial design, drafting, engineering, maintenance, and production professionals. Working closely with the Product Design & Development Manager, you will turn concepts into reality, using Solidworks and Solidworks Plastics to design and analyse a range of injection mould tools.
You will be able to
advise on the design of parts to ensure efficient tool construction
design and programme injection mould tooling for components that will run in excess of 1m units annually
review part and tool drawings of peers
keep up to speed with relevant emerging technology
document relevant requirements and communicate them to your team
liaise with specialised equipment vendors
Skills and experience
With relevant trade qualifications and at least two years' experience on the shop floor as a Tool Designer, you'll have:
high proficiency in Solidworks and Solidworks Plastics/Moldflow
experience in Product Data Management and Engineering Change Request processes
experience in the design of collapsible cores, unscrewing tools, up and aways/lifters, engineering grade polymers, high speed tools and electrode design (ideally)
the desire to deliver high-quality, practical outcomes, and be motivated by the challenges of a fast-paced, changing and high-energy environment
