We are a rapidly growing small business and are looking for Food Safety & QA manager suited to working within a small team but with the ability to grow and develop with us as the business expands. On a daily basis you will work closely with our Directors, factory manager, staff and suppliers. You will oversee all aspects of quality assurance and food safety within our business encompassing the full range of catering butchery operations and meat prep manufacture. You will be tasked with establishing and monitoring food safety and quality procedures, with the overall goal of ensuring that we are delivering high quality and safe products to our customers. The Job: * Daily factory floor checks including metal detectors, temperatures, use by dates and cleaning checks * Frequent and continued presence on the factory floor working closely with the production team to ensure good practice. * Design, develop, test and implement quality assurance processes based around HACCP principles. * Maintain and continually review and improve the quality system. * Make technical decisions and recommendations on raw materials, packaging, processes and finished products. * Investigate all food safety / quality non-conformance and ensure that corrective actions have been identified and closed out. * Approve and monitor our suppliers. * Undertake product and environmental testing (nutrition, microbiology, allergens, water etc). * Oversee hygienic practice in the factory which includes responsibility for management of the clean down at the end of the day. * Lead audits by external bodies (FSA, STS, NACB etc) and carry out internal audits. * The role encompasses both office-based tasks and hands on involvement in the production environment. About You: * Science degree or qualification in food safety / assurance. * On the ground operations experience within a food company,preferably meat or food. * HACCP qualification or in-depth understanding. * Methodical approach with a keen attention to detail. * Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. * Excellent communication skills. * Good people management skills. * High level of written English - this will be formally tested at interview. * Able to Embrace challenges with a positive attitude. Hours - Monday to Friday. 6am to 3pm
