We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and professional Purchasing Officer to join a friendly and supportive Purchasing team based in Broadstairs. This is a permanent role., working Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.15pm (1 hour unpaid lunch break), 36.25 hrs/wk. Salary is DOE.

 

 YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

* Raising purchase orders with suppliers to meet stock requirements

* Checking purchase order confirmations, ensuring information is accurate and priced correctly

* Handling Purchasing enquiries efficiently and effectively via telephone and email

* Establishing close working relationships with colleagues and suppliers

* Maintaining daily contact with suppliers to manage the flow of information, obtain delivery dates, delivery improvements, identify delays and supply issues

* Updating colleagues and partners in a timely manner

* Documenting and follow up on important actions and decisions

* Work with goods-in to compare deliveries with purchase orders and identify discrepancies

* Organised and proactive, planning and balancing priorities and good attention to detail

* Creating sound practical procedures which incorporate checks for accuracy

* Persistent in problem solving, researching the facts, and resolving issues in a timely and thorough manner

 

YOUR PROFILE

* Previous office admin experience would be of benefit (Purchasing experience an advantage but not essential).

* IT literacy - proficient use of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word & Excel (AS400 experience desirable but not essential)

* Excellent written and verbal communicator, and good level of numeracy

* Systematic approach, logical thinker and high attention to detail

* Self-motivated and works well under pressure

* Able to absorb and communicate information that can sometimes be of a technical nature

* Negotiation, influencing & persuasion skills.

* A helpful personality - communication is a key part of the role, must be organised and committed to supporting colleagues
