We are looking for a Purchase Ledger Clerk for a role in Ashford. The individual will ensure that all suppliers are paid on time to prevent accounts being placed on stop. To maintain and support the branches in terms of invoicing payments and to raise relevant queries and respond to queries in a timely and effective manner. This position is best filled by a person who is self-confident, enthusiastic, of a positive disposition, self-starting, active, alert, competitive and able to work both as a team and on their own initiative. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is also essential along with the ability to prioritise workload. Key Responsibilities Main Activities * Coding and checking Invoices, petty cash claims, expenses and entering onto system daily * Ensuring all documentation received meets VAT requirements * Reconciling bank statements to the cash book on a weekly basis * Preparing a weekly BACS run * Reviewing/actioning age creditors reports * Ensuring all invoices/expenses are signed off in accordance to authorisation procedures * Dealing with purchase enquiries * Preparing adhoc payment runs as and when required * Setting up of new supplier accounts and maintaining existing account details * Checking and reconciling supplier statements on a regular basis * Ensuring high standards of quality and customer care * Maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers * Reviewing systems and processes and making improvements where necessary * Liaising with all Head Office departments and Group Companies Personal Requirements * Prior experience within a Purchase Ledger environment is deemed essential * Knowledge and experience of cashbook entries, coding and statement reconciliations is desirable * Good IT skills and able to demonstrate the ability of adapting to new systems * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Willing to challenge the status quo and recommend change * Able to work under own initiative * Good Team Player * Maintain discretion at all times This is a permanent role, 9.00am - 5.30, Monday to Friday.
