Job Specification POSITION: Procurement Officer LOCATION: Ellesmere Port HOURS: Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 5:00pm Friday 8:00am-2:00pm SALARY: £20,000-£24,000p/a REF: VR/00562 Position: The Procurement Officer will report directly to the Procurement Manager and is responsible for supporting the Purchasing Officer in ensuring timely delivery of raw materials to production. In, addition to this, they will continually monitor cost reductions of raw materials through negotiation with suppliers and the management of the EPD process. Duties and Responsibilities: * Supporting Purchasing Officer with demand requirements and ensuring timely delivery of raw materials to production. * Negotiation with raw material suppliers. * Liaising with them on a daily basis to ensure goods are delivered to specification and to the quality standards required. * Ensuring raw materials are sourced from Approved Suppliers. * Maintenance of Vulnerability risk assessments and Supplier/Raw material Approval & Performance. Monitoring policy, ensuring we are meeting BRC requirements at all times. * Building and managing relationships with raw material suppliers and internal team to ensure Purchasing Department is fulfilling the needs of the business. * Managing the raw material non-compliance process. * Monitoring of raw material costs and exploring cost reductions through the EPD process, without compromising quality. * Optimising stock holding through continual review of raw material safety stocks, lead times and reorder levels. * Negotiation of key volume raw material contracts. * Management of artwork projects (laminates, labels, pouches), from artwork creation stages through to final delivery of packaging. * To carry out any other duties reasonably requested. * Skills, Qualifications and Experience. * Enthusiastic and motivated. * Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with a personable approach. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word and Powerpoint. * Strong communication skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines. * An accurate approach and attention to the detail. * Previous Purchasing experience preferred. * A purchasing qualification would be beneficial.
