HR GO Recruitment are currently assisting with the search of Port Health Support Assistants in the Ashford and surrounding area. The main focus of this role will be to safeguard health of the general public as well as continuously making an effective contribution to the Ashford Border Health and Business objectives. Main duties:
Assisting in the storage and dispatch of statutory samples, ensuring that they are packaged correctly and meet the required conditions to be transported safely
To assist in the maintenance of stock levels and equipment availability for inspection
To assist in any enforcement action and, where necessary, provide evidence of the action in court
To provide support to relevant stakeholders including customers, agents, importers and others
Responding to complaints and requests for advice in accordance with the company's operating procedures
To participate in the Council's Emergency Planning operations, this includes undertaking any necessary training in this department
Constantly maintain your knowledge of legislation to be able to carry out your duties to the best of your ability
The successful applicants will also be required to handle and be exposed to product allergens such as Fish, Peanuts, Tree nuts etc.
The candidate:
Must hold a Level 3 qualification in Environmental health E.g. 2 x A Levels, NVQ or Level 3 BTEC.
Knowledge of BCP is advantageous
Previous experience working with food and health and safety is essential, enforcement or regulatory field would be desirable
Must be flexible to meet the needs of the local authoritative bodies
Can demonstrate good IT skills, especially in Outlook, Word and other MS packages
Excellent communication, both oral and written
Able to show commitment to personal and work oriented goals
Full UK Driving licence and own transport is necessary due to the nature and hours of this role
Additional necessary requirement for this role:
The position involves working shifts covering 24hrs a day / 365 days a year.
Able to work remotely at home or from the Civic Centre in Ashford
The candidate must be comfortable working in temperature-controlled environments or at height
Willing to work in other council locations across the regions
No allergens to fish, peanuts or tree nuts, as these will be prevalent throughout the role
The successful applicant will be required to work on a shift rota, including early, days and nights. Experience gained within the Police Force, Prison Service or Security Industry is highly desirable.
