HRGO Recruitment are delighted to be worked with a well known public sector national healthcare provider in recruiting a Payroll Team Leader based in Chester.
The role will initially be on a 3 month basis, with view to being extended and potentially leading to a permanent contract.
Duties will include:_
- Delivering an effective and efficient ESR service to the HR Shared Services clients
- Complying with all relevant statutory regulations and Trust policies, in order to ensure that accurate and timely staff payments are processed
- To deliver an accurate method of paying staff within the clients Standing Financial Instructions and in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
- To be responsible for the overall ownership of the record in association with the preparation and verification of all temporary and permanent ESR/payroll documentation
- To provide advice and guidance to Line Managers on complex queries/issues.
- To fully utilise Information Technology in the application of ESR and the production of the payroll.
- Responsible for working to Standard Operating Procedures where these are in place and contributing to the continuous improvement of these.
- To plan and prioritise own workload, highlighting any areas of risk to the Payroll/ESR Team Manager
- To train new Payroll/ESR Officers as and when required
- The post holder will be required to travel to client organisations when necessary to support the provision of services at a particular locality.
- Day to day supervision of more junior staff within the team by allocating workloads and checking work.

The right candidate should have:-
- AAT/NVQ level 4 or equivalent experience.
- Good level of numeracy, GCSE maths of equivalent.
- In depth knowledge of ESR system.
- In depth knowledge of the IT systems that interface and underpin the ESR system.
- In depth knowledge of Agenda for Change, Medical and Dental and local terms and conditions of clients
- In depth knowledge of statutory Government legislation.
- Knowledge of NHS Pension Scheme Regulations
- Proven IT skills with the ability to use Microsoft office functionality
- Good communication skills. (written, oral and interpersonal)
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Able to multi-task and continue to function to a high standard when under pressure.
- Able to communicate well, liaise with people at all levels within and outside the HR Shared Service
