JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Management Accountant
Location: North Wales
Salary: up to £40,000 per annum DOE
Hours of work: 37.5 full time hours per week
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Management Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Group by providing accurate and timely financial performance reporting for all Group Companies; assisting with establishing robust financial controls and ensuring compliance with legal and statutory reporting obligations; building strong business partnerships with colleagues and external stakeholders; and taking the lead on financial projects.
This is a position of influence in the Group which requires integrity and a professional approach at all times. The role will involve exposure to private and sensitive information, requiring confidentiality and discretion at all times.
It will require exceptional relationship building ability across all areas of the Business
Main duties:
- Financial Performance Reporting, Financial Control & Compliance
- Preparation of a value added monthly Business financial performance pack for the Board, to include all Group Companies and divisional / department profit or loss accounts, balance sheet and other financial performance reports.
- To provide narrative on the financial performance of the Group Companies, explaining all significant deviations from budget or prior year and including suggestions for corrective action to improve financial performance where needed.
- Liaise with all divisional / department leaders to review the financial performance of their areas of responsibility.
- To work in collaboration with the Finance Manager to ensure that all monthly balance sheet account reconciliations are completed.
- Ensure that all system month and year end close procedures are completed.
- Assist with production of annual budget and re forecasts, working closely with divisional / department budget holders to ensure accuracy and accountability.
- Assist with all external stakeholder performance reporting obligations.
- Assist with the production of the annual statutory accounts, provide supporting schedules and liaise with external auditors when necessary.
- Assist with establishing and subsequent updating of a Company accounting processes, procedures and procurement manual for use by the Finance Team and divisional / department budget holders; and being an advocate of such financial controls across the wider Business.
- Assist with implementing a Financial reporting timetable to include all internal and external reporting obligations and deadlines.
- Help manage the accounting operating system to ensure correct access rights, accurate financial transaction recording and meaningful financial information reporting.
- Any other reasonable financial reporting, financial control or compliance tasks as requested.
- Building Strong Business Partnerships
- To work closely with the Finance Manager to support and mentor the Finance Team.
- To build effective relationships with senior management, department leaders and other colleagues to help improve all aspects of financial recording and reporting.
Financial Projects & Other
- Take the lead on best value cost saving exercise by liaising with budget holders to review current expenditure, exploring potential cost savings and helping with and change implementations.
- Any other adhoc financial projects.
Person Specification
- Qualified / Part Qualified Accountant (member of or studying towards ACCA/CIMA)
- Excellent knowledge of current accounting and financial reporting standards.
- Appropriate application of business key performance indicators
- Project planning
- Sound knowledge of Financial Force accounting system or other SalesForce platform based accounting systems
Skills
- Excellent core accounting ability
- Advanced Excel user
- Ability to process data in an efficient and timely manner whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy
- Proven competence in the use of accounting systems · Excellent planning and time management ability
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues and other stakeholders
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to work methodically and systematically and to present information clearly and succinctly, taking into account the target audience
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience in using Financial Force accounts system and of using integrated accounting system
- Able producing value added monthly management accounts
- Building reports in accounting systems
- Preparing annual budgets and forecasts
- Experience or working in a fast moving accounting environment
- Experience in posting general ledger journals
- Experience of working to challenging deadlines
- Experience of achieving KPI targets
- Experience of preparing statutory accounts
- Experience of providing financial information to external auditors
