Our COMAH chemical manufacturing site is seeking an Engineering Degree qualified Maintenance Manager to help maintain our facilities and improve our business. The individual will be responsible for leading maintenance systems, overseeing the continuous improvement of the manufacturing process and executing longer-term strategic plans. The ideal candidate will have experience in a maintenance management role within a COMAH regulated industry combined with a strong knowledge of the manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Work to ensure compliance with HSE & Engineering standards & guidelines and site COMAH compliance.
  • Manage a small team of multi-skilled Engineers identifying training needs and development that meet the needs of the business.
  • Control of maintenance and CapEx budgets for the site ensuring delivery to time-frame and budget.
  • Identification of and control and delivery of small/medium projects (<£100K) to budget and time-line.
  • Ensure all functional safety/safety critical equipment inspections & maintenance and testing is carried out as required by legislation or as recommended or by a risk-based evaluation.
  • Manage planned and reactive maintenance and inspection activities to meet objectives.
  • Review the plant critical spares ensuring appropriate controls in place to manage stocks.
  • Assess plant condition & undertake fault diagnosis (RCA) & improvements where necessary to reduce plant downtime.
  • With the site management team contribute to the continuous development of the sites Process Safety Systems.
  • To manage all contractor work activities on the site (including selection and approval).
  • To ensure that any changes are implemented through the Management of Change procedure ensuring COMAH compliance.
  • Lead/Assist in investigations into accident/incident/near misses.
  • Liaise with senior management to assist in the development of strategic plans for the site.
  • Participation in the Site Main Controller plan for Incident response.
  • Develop, implement and maintain maintenance and engineering procedures and standards, ensuring continued compliance with legislation, industry codes of practice and company standards.
  • Promoting lean thinking and continuous improvement to optimise operational efficiency's.
  • Manage the performance of subcontractors and suppliers in line with defined and expectations.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in maintenance management role.
  • Experience/knowledge working within a COMAH regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Engineering standards and regulations and practices.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Experience managing Maintenance department and Capex budgets
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
