LEGAL ASSISTANT (RESIDENTIAL CONVEYANCING)
Type: Full Time, 35 Hours per week, Permanent
Location: Wells
Salary: £23000- £26000
Start Date: ASAP
Support staff are integral to the success of our business and we are not looking for someone who is simply a great assistant, but an individual who can work on their own initiative and take responsibility for working well with our Clients by getting things done.
We are looking to appoint an experienced Legal Assistant to assist our fee earners in the management of their volume caseload of mixed sale and purchase residential property transactions.
We are looking for someone who can operate with professionalism and expertise, as you will be liaising with both Clients and other professionals on a range of legal enquiries. You will be able to independently establish priorities and manage deadlines.
You will:
Be responsible for file opening across residential sales and purchases, undertaking the initial AML check and producing the client care letter. Other duties may include collating office copies, gathering redemption information, undertaking searches and, with supervision, drafting client letters and contract packs and assisting with exchanges.
Proactively progress transactions by identifying what/who needs to be chased and be the main point of contact for all communication from clients and other parties involved in the transaction.
Be able to build strong relationships with clients and third parties through effective communication and resolution of issues including file escalation to move a transaction forward.
Work on all post completion matters including registrations, file closure and archiving.
Ensure smooth operation of the company's conveyancing case management system.
About you:
You will have proven assistant experience within a legal environment, ideally gained within a residential property department. You must be confident to work without direct supervision and be able to demonstrate organisational intelligence and communication skills. You will possess solid verbal and numerical skills, together with sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and case management systems.
Most importantly you will be a natural self-starter with the ability to be flexible and empathetic to deliver client needs. You will be keen to provide a high level of professional assistance and work with team members to provide clients with a high standard of service.
What we can offer:
A competitive salary, a discretionary twice yearly bonus, 24 rising to 29 days holiday plus bank holidays and workplace pension scheme.
We have embraced flexible working throughout the pandemic and are adopting a hybrid of homeworking and office working going into the future.
