LCV Mechanic

HRGO Recruitment Wakefield are currently looking for an experienced LCV Mechanic on behalf of an internationally renowned vehicle hire company.

Role:- LCV Mechanic

Hours of work:- 45 hours a week, Monday - Friday between 8am and 6pm + 1 in 4 Saturday AM

Salary:- £13-14 per hour

Duties will include:-

  • Ensuring all service and inspection documentation is correctly completed.
  • Management of individual workload and job assignment.
  • Accurate completion of job sheets.
  • Use of workshop equipment in a correct manner.
  • Contributing towards effective "preventative maintenance".
  • Ensuring Health and Safety regulations are adhered to at all times.
  • Correctly record the use of parts.
  • Completing all work to a "right first time standard".
  • Preparing and submitting vehicles to a standard appropriate for the issuing of an annual test certificate.
  • Communicating accurately with Foreman/woman / Manager as to Work in Progress and any anticipated delays or issues.
  • Ensuring that knowledge is in line with modern technologies and developments applicable to the role.
  • Ensuring that good housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as required.

The candidate should:-

  • Have Excellent knowledge of mechanics & electrics.
  • Posses a Full Driving Licence
  • Hold Appropriate technical qualifications, including valid IRTEC licence, City & Guilds Levels 1 and 2
  • Have an Excellent understanding of vehicle maintenance requirements and procedures.
  • Be a strong communicator both verbal and written
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Planning and time management.
  • Apprenticeship training as commercial fitter.
  • Experience as a mechanic in a commercial vehicle environment.

The following is desirable

  • knowledge of transport refrigeration.
  • Working knowledge of current vehicle operating systems.
  • Experience of training apprentices.
  • Knowledge of Transportation and Logistics industry.
  • Strong IT literacy.
  • Understanding of vehicle maintenance.
  • Refrigeration experience.
  • City & Guilds level 3.
