Health and Safety Officer

Job Title Health & Safety Officer (Salaried Position). Reporting to Human Resources Manager Hours Monday - Thursday 09.00 - 17.00/Friday 09.00 - 16.00 Main function of the job:- Develop, implement and provide support for the effective Management of Health and Safety and OH functions. Key Duties:- * Support the HR Manager and team with planning, coordinating and implementing of effective Health Safety & Training policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure that the business objectives are met. * Provide support to the Management and Operation team in all aspects of safety, occupational health, safety, Training / Development and on occasion environmental issues. * Support the HR Manager in ensuring Health & Safety compliance and perform regular Health and Safety audits * Provide support to the Company on the implementation of Company-wide Health and Safety Training initiatives e.g. ISO 18001 and have use of lean manufacturing tools like six sigma, kaizen, 5S, Standard work, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, A3 / 8D etc. * Assist with developing Health and Safety plans that comply with Company policies and procedures as well as Internal and external stakeholders requirements * Ensure training, tool box meetings, and drills are implemented as part of the company's training and Health & Safety and HR program, i.e. emergency response systems, etc. * Investigate and complete the process for close out of all Accident Investigation Reports and prepare/submit preventative measure initiatives for implementation * Manage Safety Statistic reporting within and benchmark performance with relative other industries. * Provide Health & Safety risk assessments and aspects for Company bid submissions as requested * Assist in the development of project specific Health and Safety procedures. * Conduct Induction/refresher training to all new/existing employees. * Ensure premises, transportation and employees are compliant with Company policies and safety standards and that there are sufficient systems in place to monitor and safeguard same. * Successfully develop and implement work site Health & Safety campaigns and good practices. * Assist with the development, improvement and to provide up-to-date analysis of the Company T&D plan. Undertake training, identify training needs and ensure appropriate training is being carried out in the departments. Be capable in the provision of training, assessing and denoting employees as competent and ensure all training records/ matrices are completed accurately, on time and filed appropriately * Undertakes and Contributes to Internal / External Audits, Inventory Control/ Stock Audits * Undertake investigations and projects to resolve complaints * Assist in ad-hoc HR & HSE tasks/projects as required. Requirements: * Min NEBOSH Diploma Parts 1 and 2 * Min 3 years relevant experience in manufacturing undertaking a similar role. * Knowledgeable in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OSHA 18001 standards and HSE management systems is highly preferred. * Good MS Office skills particularly in Excel, Words and Power point. * Able to work independently and be meticulous.
