We are working with a fantastic engineering company who is looking for a Health and safety Assistant
Previous office experience is desirable along side some basic engineering experience but this is not essential

The role:
To assist within Management Systems (MS) to ensure that safety, health and environmental management policies comply with legislative requirements and are applied consistently and rigorously across the business. To help drive a culture of health, safety and environmental excellence throughout the business.
Accountabilities
Work closely with the MS Manager (MSM) and the Managing Director (MD) to ensure the long-term introduction of all business improvements relevant to Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S). Assist the MS with the creation of a monthly EH&S management report to the board of directors.
Further develop, create, review and implement safe systems of work.
Monitor the implementation of suitable project risk assessments and method statements.
Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are implemented, communicated and adhered to by everyone.
Assist the MS regarding Incident and Near-Miss investigations and apply corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain the health and safety training matrix, updating as required by health and safety policies and personal development plans. Ensure all personnel have up to date training plans and any shortfalls are addressed. Source and book training courses through HR as required, inform all parties and ensure the programme is updated.
Assist the MSM when dealing with consultants and external auditors to manage and deliver the current audit plan, ensuring that all areas are compliant with our policies and procedures. Actively contribute to continuous improvement.
Arrange and coordinate regular site safety inspections on our customer's sites. Make sure all required housekeeping and health and safety inspections are carried out at business premises. Ensure all outstanding actions are completed
Look after the health, safety and welfare of all employees.
Attend environmental, health and safety committee meetings and ensure outstanding actions are completed in a timely manner. Attend other meetings as requested.
Essential:
English and Maths GCSE at Grade C or above or equivalent
Good ICT skills
Good planning and organisational skills
Excellent communication and people skills
Ability to manage several tasks concurrently and meet deadlines
Be hardworking and conscientious with the ability to motivate and support
Can work calmly under pressure
Show good initiative, be enthusiastic and self-motivated.
Good attention to detail
Hold a valid driving licence
Desirable:
Competent with Microsoft Office package, Word, Excel, Outlook
Experience with Net Zero
Minimum of 3 years working in an operational role with direct EH&S responsibilities
Health and safety qualification at certificate level through NEBOSH or IOSH
