Chief Inspector

A Chief Inspector position available has become available at a prestigious Aerospace Precision Engineering company based in Romford. Leading and managing the inspection team, you will be responsible for the delivery of all the company's inspection processes, ensuring that all products confirm to the customer, design data and AS9100 requirements.

You will be a key figure in the business, making sure that products are delivered fully and on time, delegating and managing the workload of your team whilst resolving any problem areas that arise. Please note that aerospace experience is essential for this position.

The responsibilities of the Chief Inspector include:

Overseeing and managing the whole Inspection process, supervising the inspection team and identifying any necessary resources (such as tooling and calibration equipment) are acquired.

Verifying parts, assemblies and subassemblies, making sure they comply to the customer's specification, any engineering drawings and the quality management system.

Producing inspection records, making sure they're suitable for auditing.

Creating and assembling First Article Inspection reports.

Support the production with batch first off and introducing Approved Operator Processes.

Report any non-conformances and support root cause analysis so corrective action can be taken swiftly.

Involvement with Product Introduction meetings and daily production meetings.

Conducting risk assessments.

Maximising efficiency and team performance using KPIs.

Maintaining all the area 6S requirements, so business targets are met and improved upon.

Highlighting when team training is required and managing employee relations. This includes overseeing employee attendance, disciplinaries, reviews and recruitment.

You must excel in understanding the 6S principles, customer drawings, specs and FAIRs documentation, with a strong knowledge of goods inward inspection of finished products. You should also be confident using and setting a variety of gauges and measuring equipment, as well as having an impressive understanding of CMM operation and programming.

An ONC/HNC/ apprenticeship or degree within engineering is preferred. Knowledge of Q-Pulse, MSA, NDT and ISO awareness are desirable.

We are looking for a candidate who is a great leader, with fantastic communication and initiative. You must be able to work to tight time scales, whilst keeping quality high.
