Buyer

My client is a manufacturers based in Ilminster, Somerset.

The company has been established 10 years and are well known for their quality bespoke products for customers, supplying domestic and commercial customer with bespoke solutions.

We are looking for someone to join our dynamic and ambitious team in a newly created Buying role with the following attributes:

• Someone who can work within a team, communicate at all levels, and establish new relationships whilst maintaining the current.

• Ability to manage conflicting deadlines and to manage dynamic situations

• Computer literate - excel, word and buying system experience would be ideal. Knowledge of buying system implementation would be useful.

• Attention to detail and drive to see jobs through.

• Manufacturing experience required.

Some of the day-to-day duties include tasks such as:

• Liaising with sales and production to achieve on-time and in full deliveries of products to support production schedule and delivery dates.

• Maintaining current supplier relationships, whilst also sourcing new materials and suppliers

• Manage the buying of materials to effect volume cost savings which have not yet been realised due to lack of time.

• Ordering day to day materials along with project specific requirements.

• Manage and complete problematic returns with suppliers when needed. Work to minimise delivery issues.

• Maintaining the company database with current supplier prices and communicating short falls or large increases.

• Conducting ½ yearly component part and monthly work-in-progress stock checks and reporting back thereof

• Regular in-house reporting on key data and indicators

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:

• Buying experience at mid-senior level in a similar sector buying raw materials, piece parts and finished goods.

• Budget management and review

• Able to buy to strict specifications and requirements

• Good sense of humour and self-motivated with a good attitude

• Clean driving licence required

Salary dependent on experience - range £25,000 to £35,000 pro rata based on 40-hour week
