The position is primarily responsible for supporting the Corporate Banking Team in proactively identifying, assessing, managing and structuring new business development opportunities within the portfolio.
Products employed will include trade/corporate financing including offerings around commodity finance, asset-backed lending, structured financing and other short-term financing to support traders and corporate entities that do business in and with Africa.
This role will also include managing the existing or proposed client relationships to achieve the business objectives as well as to meet client requirements.
Primary Responsibilities of Role
Representation:
Act as an ambassador for the Bank, ensuring that the values, mission and vision of the board are effectively delivered.
Client Focus
Cultivate good rapport with existing and potential clients for business opportunities and ensure that a high-quality service is always provided.
Performance Reporting
Assist the Relationship Manager, delivering required reports and keep management apprised of business activities.
Ongoing business tracking of revenues for MIS and Budget purposes.
Operational Efficiency/Analysis
Review and prepare detailed financial models for a range of Commodities clients as well as interpreting key model outputs.
Ensure annual credit reviews are carried out and continuous KYB/KYC due diligence on portfolio of corporate relationships.
Work closely with Credit Risk Team to prepare new credit applications and ensure Bank requirements around the portfolio are satisfied.
Working with Others
Assist the team in execution of its aspects of the Corporate Banking Unit strategy supporting the Relationship Manager in ongoing management of existing and potential clients within the portfolio.
Work with the team to deliver the units budget by building and developing an adequate corporate clientele base and loan portfolio.
Support the Bank's cross-selling strategy of products to new and existing clients.
Leverage group network by ensuring that clients bank with us where we are represented.
Risk Management
Monitor risk assets under management and ensure the required zero tolerance on NPLs is maintained.
Competence Requirements
Professional/Academic Qualifications:
Strong Bachelor's degree in banking, finance, accounting or similar subject is required
Experience/Knowledge
Strong, demonstrable, analytical background required
Advanced Excel
Financial modelling skills are highly desirable
Previous banking experience or exposure to credit analysis, or structuring of corporate and trade deals is desirable
Previous risk and controls or compliance background desirable
Technical Skills:
Strong Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook skills
Interpersonal Skills:
An ability to 'think outside the box' and look for creative solutions
