Birmingham Highways Maintenance

IMMEDIATE START - Birmingham Job Title: Incident Response Operative Main purpose To support the BHMMS Project in all aspects of incident response, including but not limited to, attendance at, making safe, and repair of Category 1 defects; and assisting with Highways Emergencies as directed. The role may also require operatives to provide mutual support to other Amey contracts on an ad-hoc basis. Responsibilities * Undertake works to a high technical standard * Attend briefings as required * To drive or operate vehicles and plant requiring specialist skills, including undertaking daily vehicle checks, routine maintenance (e.g. oil, water, wiper fluid) and cleaning; and to ensure defect reports are competed and submitted * All aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclical maintenance activities and minor civils works * Taking responsibility for the safety of yourself and others within your team to ensure compliance with the relevant health and safety legislation and safe operation to protect members of the public * Allocation and capturing of time and resources used in completing tasks in line with the BHMMS systems * To keep records, complete all necessary paperwork, communicate and liaise with other employees of Amey, sub-contractors, the emergency services, the police, the general public, clients and customers Role Specific Responsibilities * Liaise with the OCR to deliver the attend and make safe requirements of the Project, ensuring times and actions are accurately recorded in a timely fashion * Wherever practicable, undertake a full repair of the defect, and where this isn't possible, complete a high quality temporary repair in line with agreed operating practices * At all times relay the required information from site to the OCR, supervisors, managers and other Amey teams * Understand the practical requirements of the Project requirements - Output Specification - and ensure this requirements are adhered to at all times * Assist, as directed by either Amey management or the Police, with Highways Emergencies to ensure the Project Roads are available for the maximum amount of time practicable * Undertake other duties as may be required from time to time, as instructed by supervisors or managers Technical Competencies * National Highways Sector Scheme 12D * Abrasive wheels training * HGV Category C * G39 Part 1 Accreditation * Construction Skills Certification Scheme - Skilled Worker or higher * Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and Signal Generator (GENNY) Accreditation * NRSWA Steetworks Operative * Approved manual handling training * Approved working at height training Apply below now!
