Job Description

Bakery Operatives

  • Working shifts (days/ nights) up to 12 hours per shifts (subject to production requirements)
  • Working on plants and machinery to manufacture bread and bread snacks products in line with standard operating procedures
  • Duties include:

  • To follow safety procedures as written including risk assessments, safe systems of work, lock off, correct wearing of PPE and other specific safety instructions relevant to the task being carried out.
  • Ensure individual compliance with all statutory regulations and legislation regarding Health & Safety
  • Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • To be responsible for the efficient operation of the plant to produce good quality product.
  • To maintain high standards of cleaning, housekeeping and adhere to "Clean As You Go" Policy
  • Be responsible for recording of required Process Control and Due Diligence in accordance with Company procedures i.e. metal detection checks, weighing checks etc.
  • To prepare plant and equipment for operation in a safe manner
  • Maintain product quality specification by adjustment of the plant and remove sub standard product to waste and alert other team members of potential problem areas
  • Identify area's that have a potential associated risk to food safety and raise and action accordingly.
  • To monitor plant areas of possible product contamination to remove them or inform First Line Manager if unable to do so at the earliest opportunity.
  • Reporting of defects or potential hazards to the Coordinator/ FLM/Shift Production Leader
  • To report plant faults to immediate supervisor or engineers, Mainsaver users to input required information on the Mainserver system.
  • Follow instruction, training and guidelines set out by the manufacturing department.
  • To be aware and ensure ISO9002 and Work Instruction Procedures are followed
  • To act outside of the daily schedule and focus on areas for improvement.
  • To contribute as part of a team and to assist in meeting the departments Key Performance Indicators.
  • To rotate work position with members of the team in their areas
  • Co-operate with other team members and managers to achieve given goals
  • Identify ideas for improvements through the plant, quality of product or cost.
