Qualified Accountant within a Charitable Organisation We are assisting our client in the recruitment of an Accountant to join their well-established charitable organisation. The function of the role is to provide accounting and commercial expertise to the Charity at both administrative and management level, specifically to the accounting function and to other areas of the charity as the need arises. Duties to include: * Keep abreast of legislative requirements and changes which may impact on the charity and to keep the CEO briefed * To provide management accounts, budgetary reports and cashflow forecasts which meet the needs of the CEO, Board of Trustees and Auditors * To compile the annual report and accounts in good time for the trustees to approve them at their final board meeting before the AGM. * To provide advice, assistance and control to Area Committees on any financial, legal or statutory aspect of their operation, when requested, without impinging on their voluntary nature. * To ensure that the varied methods of the charity fundraising are carried out in a cost-effective manner, which meets all legal obligations and minimises taxation implications. * To manage the day-to-day accounting activities, including banking, payroll and budgeting. * To attend meetings of the board of trustees and the Budget and the Investment Committees. * To act as the company secretary of the charity. * To be the main source of advice to the Chief Executive Officer and staff on financial and legal matters. * To liaise with the Charity Commission, OSCR, Companies House, the Gambling Commission and The Pensions Regulator. * To be conversant with the Charity Commission website, in order to advise the Chief Executive Officer of charity law, trusteeship, governance, etc. * To File accounts, annual returns and amendments to the Articles of Association with Companies House, when required. * To administer the charity's pension scheme. The right candidate would ideally understand the demands of an Accountant within a charity and will have proven experience in such a role.
