Location: Norwich
Sector: Ambulance Call Handler
Pay Rate: £10.40-17.05 depending on shifts
Hours:Full time, Shifts on a rota. 24/7 365 role with a mixture of days, lates & nights. After training, a 4 on 4 off shift pattern will be used.
Main duties:
- The first point of contact with telephone callers to the Trust
- Respond to all incoming telephone calls to the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), giving emergency calls priority over non-emergency calls; placing lower priority callers on hold when required
- Ensure the timely and accurate answering using the Computer Aided Dispatch and appropriate clinical triage software
- Receive and record telephone calls from a range of personnel including hospital staff; other Health Service professionals and other Emergency Services.
- Utilise Computer Aided Dispatch, clinical triage software and Information Communication Technology (ICT), including; telephony, data, email, and fax, to achieve effective communication with clients and EOC/operational staff
- going through appropriate procedures and prompt cards to give life saving instructions relating to CPR, maternity, airway management, unconscious patient, fitting, diabetic information, advising patients to use appropriate medication as instructed by their doctor, and making the scene safe for operational staff.
What skills and experience you should have?
- Call Centre experience
- Clear telephone voice
- Good telephone manner
- 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (or an equivalent qualification) including English
- Key board skills & Computer literate
- Effective written & verbal communication skills
- Customer service experience with effective listening skills
- Multi-tasking and remaining calm under pressure
- Flexible, empathetic and compassionate
- Able to work in high pressured environment that is ever changing
