Coalition Government for the UK
Following the General Election on 6 May the country faced a hung Parliament and political uncertainty after the Conservatives won the most seats but not enough to secure an overall majority. There followed lengthy discussions between the Tories and the Lib Dems to form a new Government.
11 May saw an historic coalition between the Tories and the Lib Dems with David Cameron invited to form a new Government by the Queen after Gordon Brown resigned. This is the first coalition government in the UK for 70 years, but what does this mean for UK businesses? Only time will tell. David Cameron has pledged to tackle Britain’s pressing deficit problem and it is understood that an emergency budget will take place within 50 days.

This year, HR GO has decided to be involved with KEiBA - Kent Excellence in Business Awards which is a scheme staged and produced by Kent County Council and the KM Group to recognise and reward excellence in Kent’s businesses. HR GO are sponsoring the ‘Employer of the Year’ award which is being judged by Hugh Billot, Group Director of Human Resources, who will be acting as an independent business expert and has been very busy visiting and judging all the entries from local business for this category.
