VEHICLE CHECKS

Below is a list of standard checks that are your legal responsibility to carry out and for which you get paid!

Check:

  • Tail lift lead (if required)
  • You have the correct unit
  • Seal number corresponds with paperwork given
  • Trailer number and load are correct

Check that each of the following is clean and secure where appropriate:

  • Number plates (front and rear)
  • Front, rear & side lights, reflectors
  • MOT plates (unit & trailer)
  • Windscreen and cab glass
  • Current Road Fund Licence disc
  • Hazardous goods markers
  • LGV Marker boards
  • Driving mirrors
  • Current Operators Licence

Also that the following are in good working order as appropriate:

  • Fifth wheel and draw bar couplings
  • Tachograph or speedometer
  • Fuel levels
  • Rear fog lights (if fitted)
  • Air and electric couplings
  • Windscreen wipers
  • Side and rear under run guards
  • Front, rear and side lights
  • Brakes & warning lights, gauge or buzzer
  • Fridge plant
  • Horn
  • Sump oil at correct level
  • Silencer
  • Radiator at correct level
  • Indicators
  • No oil or fuel leaks
  • Steering
  • Tyre pressures
  • Brake lights
  • Tyre tread legal
